The Quest 3S will be the perfect headset for gaming and watching (virtual porn) movies. Because of its specs, how it sits on your head, the low weight and the pricing this will be our recommended buy if you are new to VR or if you’re coming from a previous generation virtual reality headset.
It has the same features as the Meta Quest 3, including hi-res VR and mixed reality, passthrough, hand-tracking, and compatibility with all Quest apps.
The goggles however are going to look quite different from the “normal” Quest 3 when it comes to the cameras at the front. Instead of the well known vertical camera system, the lenses on the new model sit in a triangle formation on both sides giving it a spider look. Other than that everything else appears pretty identical.
Meta has rebuilt Meta Horizon OS for spatial computing, with better support for essential 2D apps like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. They added better spatial audio and improved passthrough’s contrast and colour, making it more realistic and immersive.
It comes in two models: 128GB of storage and 256GB of storage and they will cost $300 (€329) and $400 (€439), respectively. This is a great deal I'd say!
Whichever you get, it’s going to be substantially cheaper than the current Meta Quest 3 headset which was launched last year.

Keep in mind that Meta is dropping the price of the 512GB Meta Quest 3 from $649.99 to just $499.99 so it might be a better buy for you, depending on your budget.
The Meta Quest 3S and the Quest 3 mostly share the same specifications. Which is actually a good thing considering how powerful the Quest 3 is and how much lower prices the 3S is.
The headset has 8GB of DRAM and the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 processor. It's interesting to note that this might put the Quest 3S ahead of its more powerful sibling: more demanding games might end up running better on the Quest 3S due to its lower native resolution (although with a little less visual quality).
The different lenses and resolution are the reason for the lower price point of the Quest 3S. The Quest 3 has 4.5 million display pixels versus Quest 3S which has 3.5 million. Quest 3 has a resolution 2064 x 2208 and 3s has 1832 x 1920.
The fresnel lenses used are considered inferior to the more modern (and more expensive) pancake lenses.
But don’t worry about this too much because you’ll still be amazed by the screen quality. It’s simply really good! You will only notice slightly less quality if you’re coming from a (way) more expensive setup.
The 3-position IPD/IAD adjustment on the Meta Quest 3S is a step down from the IPD wheel on the Quest 3 though, which provided a more precise and optimised method. If you're comfortable using one of the three defaults, that shouldn't be a problem, but if not, it might be troublesome.
Now we got the technical stuff out of the way, let’s talk about the reason you are really here: You want to watch some high quality VR porn on it!

I personally won’t run to the store to get the new Meta Quest 3S for the simple reason I already own its bigger brother, the Quest 3. But if I had no VR headset at all or only had the older Quest 2 I'd certainly be pre-ordering one right now. It’s really a no-brainer if you don’t want to spend too much money and still get an amazing product in return.
While it’s a slight downgrade compared to the Quest 3, it’s more than good enough for the average user who likes to game, use some apps and loves watching VR porn on comfortable VR glasses!
